TMC: BJP backed ‘sex offender’ while preaching Nari Samman

Kolkata: Trinamool on Monday launched an-all out attack on BJP over videos of JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda’s grandson allegedly sexually assaulting women, with party brass questioning how PM Narendra Modi could speak of ‘Nari Samman’ in Sandeshkhali while allowing a “sex offender” to contest a Karnataka Lok Sabha seat as their ally.
TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose wrote on X: “Astounding & chilling.100s of women from domestic help to party workers raped, molested, assaulted and sexually attacked, captured in 1000s of tapes filmed by BJP’s alliance party JDS Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. Where is Narendra Modi, JP Nadda and NCW? Where is mainstream media outrage? Will BJP speak for “Nari Shakti”? ... Forget Beti- Bachao-Beti-Padhao this is BJP SE BETI BACHAO.”
BJP has distanced itself from Prajwal in light of the controversy surrounding the alleged sex tapes after an FIR was lodged by their former doemstic help accusing Revanna and his father of inflicting sexual abuse on her.
Claiming the issue “runs much deeper” and involves BJP directly, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev said: “In fact, it goes to the top. A former BJP candidate, Devraj Gowda, said he had brought the matter to the notice of home minister Amit Shah and PM Modi. But no attention was paid. BJP should hang its head in shame. BJP is part of the sexual abuse the videos show this MP inflict on women. The party still gave him a ticket. BJP’s gender justice is in tatters.” TMC Rajya Sabha MP Jawhar Sircar said: “BJP was warned about Prajwal Revanna’s sex mania videos months ago, but he still got the Hassan ticket. Modi’s spies keep track of every political person, media person, official and businessman of consequence. Why then did he encourage this sex rogue?”
Congress alleged that “a pen drive full of pornographic videos” had been uncovered and the clips were being circulated in Hassan district. The party alleged Prajwal sexually assaulted thousands of women and took videos of them.
