Kolkata: Out of the 1.4 lakh candidates who had enrolled for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Board (WBJEEB) exam 80% appeared for the test, the highest ever, despite the heatwave spell in Bengal. The number of candidates who had enrolled this year is also the highest ever. In 2023 it was 1.2 lakh.
Chairman Moloyendu Saha said this year 80% students enrolled, the highest in the last three years.He said, “But we noticed that compared to other districts in Kolkata, the number of candidates apearing was slightly low, possibly as enrolled candidates from other stateswrite exam from centres in Kolkata or Howrah, so there may be slight dip due to heat and election. This is very positive that such a huge number of students appeared during adverse weather conditions.“
