Kolkata: A day after homemaker Rehena Khatoon (40) died after being hit by a truck, cops on Tuesday slapped culpable homicide charges on the driver, who is currently on the run. The incident occurred on Hyde Road near Taratala on Monday afternoon.
The West Port police station registered the case and handed it to the fatal squad of traffic police. Cops said initial investigation revealed that the truck’s tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control.The vehicle then mounted the pavement and, crashed into the victim’s house. Rehena’s family members were inside the house at the time of the accident, but no one else was injured.
“The house was severely damaged. It took about 30 minutes to recover Rehena’s body,” said an officer.
