  • Kolkata: The Kolkata Police will launch three new apps by next week to solve various issues pertaining to law and order, traffic and the problems faced by senior citizens in the city. One of the apps is meant for the cops’ internal use while the two others will facilitate police-public interaction. The final trials of the three apps are being conducted on Thursday and Friday.

The first app, dedicated to the senior citizens, will be linked with an upcoming call centre for Pronam members. “The Pronam members will have access to the app, by which they can reach us for any solution,” said an officer.

The second app will give cops an access to the CCTV footage across the city. “The footage will be recorded and it can be accessed by senior officers on their smart phones. Such a system is already working partially but the new version of the app will work real-time and help police officers make decisions instantly,” said an officer at Lalbazar.

“The new CCTV app will be an added bonus along with other investigating tools,” said an officer from the detective department.

The third app is an upgraded version of the existing Bondhu app and it will include more features for the public. “We are trying to integrate the app with the KMC parking app so that motorists can get to know about free parking spaces. We are also trying to fine-tune the app so that some petty cases can be reported through this app,” said the officer.
