BJP using central forces as ‘political shields’: TMC

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress on Friday alleged that Bengal BJP leaders were misusing central forces and central agencies as their “political shields”.
Party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said: “In Bhagabanpur-II block, central forces, who were with a BJP MLA, shot at Trinamool Congress leader Bimal Krishna Das, who was grievously injured in the attack. We ask the BJP MLA and the Centre, who will take responsibility for this heinous act?”
BJP MLA Rabindranath Maity has denied any knowledge of the incident but indicated that the central forces are looking into the claims.
Ghosh alleged: “Using central forces to guard the BJP leader’s convoy bears testimony to illegal activities taking place under the garb of political rallies and convoys. If a proper search operation is conducted, huge amounts of money will be found in these convoys. There is a possibility that money is given to anti-social elements to create unrest across Bengal.”
“People are being harassed by using these so-called ‘trigger-happy’ central forces. We demand that BJP leaders’ convoys, which are shielded by central forces, be checked in order to avoid any mishap,” he added.
