• Kidnapped trader rescued from Digha

  • KOLKATA: A trader, Rajmul Sheikh, residing near Anandapur, was rescued from Digha by a team of anti-rowdy section of detective department around 6.30pm on Saturday. He was abducted from in front of a popular restaurant on Friday and a ransom call of Rs 30 lakh was made to his family. Cops said the accused, numbering around seven, had a financial dispute with Sheikh. One of them said that Sheikh had not honoured a deal, making them hatch the conspiracy.

    Tiljaja police and ARS DD was informed. The DD team went through 50-odd CCTV footage and other technical inputs. The accused demanded that the ransom be paid to them in Digha.

    A team of Tiljaja PS and ARS proceeded to Digha and rescued Sheikh. Sk Mokhtar Ahmed (34), from Egra, Masiur Khan and the main accused Alkas Khan have been arrested from Digha.
