• Kol: Cycle rides to pujas spread green message

  • KOLKATA: Different cyclist groups led by SwitchON Foundation organised 'pandal riding' - a unique rally around New Town - on Friday, to spread awareness about sustainable habits. They took pledges from people to adopt the cleanest mode of transport for pandal-hopping. This rally was joined by people who use cycles to reach their workplace.

    New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) chairman Debashish Sen, said, "This rally to celebrate Durga Puja is very special and will encourage people to come forward and adopt sustainable habits."

    He added, "Bicycles prove to be an important means of transport for health, livelihoods and a reminder that people not only care about the environment, but when individuals unite, the power can create a massive impact towards a safer and better future for all."

    Vinay Jaju of SwitchON said,"This Durga Puja will let us reflect on the changing times, and take a drastic step in shifting to eco-friendly mode of transport."
