  • A division bench of Calcutta High Court headed by Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty on Thursday declined to issue any stay on the order passed by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the same court, who had directed the CBI to find out who had advised the school service commission to take a decision to create supernumerary posts for teachers.

The division bench also upheld Justice Gangopadhyay’s order asking state education secretary Manish Jain to appear before him along with the documents relating to supernumerary posts and application forms.

The division bench expressed surprise to hear that the state government was planning to allow the candidates who got teacher jobs illegally to continue their services. Earlier in the day, in compliance with Wednesday’s order, Jain was present in courtroom number 17, where Justice Gangopadhyay hears cases.
