  • A day after senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari alleged that the party’s Minority Morcha woman leader was beaten up, stripped and dragged by hair by TMC goons in Cooch Behar district on June 25,  the BJP on Saturday demanded a CBI investigation into the matter.

BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul, who led a seven-member delegation to meet the victim, said, “One of our sisters from Bengal, from the minority community was stripped, beaten and paraded in her village by TMC miscreants. …some people have been arrested. We’ve brought the matter to the notice of the NCW..”

Accusing the police of inaction, Paul said, “ If a CBI probe can be carried out in Manipur then it must be conducted here as well to bring out the truth.”

State BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar, who spoke with the victim over the phonesaid  “…This is a heinous crime… If needed, will move Calcutta High Court seeking justice.”  TMC Cooch Behar district leader Partha Pratim Roy  slammed BJP for politicising the issue.
