  • Kolkata: Defending champions Mohammedan Sporting were held to a 0-0 draw by Kidderpore SC in a CFL Premier Division match on Monday.

Five days ago, Mohammedan Sporting began their title defence in style blowing away Wari 6-0. However, despite having had the advantage of playing at home, the black-and-white brigade failed to produce the usual creative sparks against Kidderpore, who kept the home at bay with a well-executed defensive set up.

Kidderpore, who beat Measurers Club 1-0 in the first match — have made it to the Super Six (championship) round for the past couple of seasons.

While Mohammedan Sporting coach Hakim Ssengendo refused to press the panic button, his Kidderpore counterpart Sayantan Das Roy said that they should have been awarded a penalty in the closing minutes of the first half.

    Bagan ready for Bhawanipore test:

Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan SG will kick-start their campaign with a tricky test against Bhawanipore FC. “We are prepared for this challenge. I want to take it match by match but our target is to finish the league on top,” Bagan’s reserve team coach Deggi Cardozo said on the match-eve. TNN
