• Bengal govt raises terminal benefits from ₹2-3L to 5L

  • Kolkata: Bengal govt on Thursday announced an increase in terminal benefits for various categories of workers, including higher secondary contractual teachers, para teachers, SSK and MSK teachers, academic supervisors, ASHA workers, honorary health workers, Anganwari workers and helpers, civic volunteers, village police volunteers, home guard volunteers and auxiliary fire operators.

    The decision to increase the terminal benefit from Rs 2-3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh was taken by CM Mamata Banerjee and will be effective from April 1. State education minister Bratya Basu shared the news on X.Those reaching the age of 60 or 65 are eligible for this benefit.

    “We fought for this. We will be grateful to CM Mamata Banerjee and education minister Bratya Basu. This means a lot to people who are on the verge of retirement,” said Maidul Islam, state secretary of Sikshak Oikyo Mukta Mancha.
