  • Kolkata: The NIA on Thursday filed a chargesheet in the Bhupatinagar blast case and claimed that the blast was a bid to terrorise locals. Maiti is a TMC booth president.

According to the NIA FIR registered on June 4, 2023, a high intensity blast ripped the house of Bhupatinagar’s Raj Kumar Manna on Dec 2, 2022.Raj Kumar, Buddhadeb and Biswajit were present at the spot during the incident. The NIA in its FIR mentioned that they received injuries from the blast and died later.

According to NIA sources, there was an effort to show the blast as accidental. “It was not a chocolate bomb. The blast was from bombs being made,” said an NIA official. tnn
