  • KOLKATA: Bengal governor C V Ananda Bose put out a six-page Q&A on his social media handle Thursday, seeking to explain the implications of the stand-off over newly elected Trinamool MLAs Sayantika Banerjee and Reyat Hossain Sarkar refusing to take the oath of office at Raj Bhavan and his decision to "authorise" deputy speaker Ashish Banerjee to swear in the duo.

Bose's post showed up on his X handle within hours of speaker Biman Banerjee announcing a special assembly session Friday. He said "the assembly is not helpless in the hands of the governor".Bose said he took the decision on July 2 in New Delhi after considering the requests made by the two MLAs, both of whom contested the recent bypolls.

The Speaker said he hadn't received any formal communication from Raj Bhavan.
