• SSC scam: I-T seeks court nod to quiz Arpita

  • Kolkata: The income tax department has moved the special PMLA court to seek its permission to interrogate SSC scam accused Arpita Mukherjee. The agency has told the court that it had reasons to believe that Mukherjee held several benami properties.

    Till June this year, ED had attached properties worth Rs 103.1 crore in connection to former minister Partha Chatterjee and Mukherjee.ED officials had earlier told the PMLA court that they had started serving notice to the companies linked in the case. Many of these companies are connected to Mukherjee.

    Following this, the I-T department came across leads to immovable properties including residential units and cash lying with several bank accounts. I-T officials want to dig further into Mukherjee’s properties to trace benami transactions. tnn
