Kolkata: The body of a man in his 30s — a rope tied around one of his hands — was found floating in Kestopur canal near Salt Lake AA block on Friday. Local residents alerted the police after they spotted the body around noon. He was wearing a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. A police team fished the body out of the canal. It was sent for post-mortem to find out the reason and the time of death.Cops said there were suspected strangulation marks on his neck. The body could not be identified till late on Friday as there were no identity cards on him. They have alerted all nearby police stations. tnn
