• IRCTC focusses on Andaman packages as night flights take off

  • KOLKATA: Anticipating a huge boost in tourist flow after Air India’s successful night landing at Port Blair airport, IRCTC, eastern region has repackaged its Andaman tour product.

    "Building on the success of last year when 1,540 travellers experienced the pristine beauty of this topical paradise, this year IRCTC is aiming to double the number, targeting 3,000 passengers,” a senior IRCTC official said on Saturday.“This is quite doable now that night flight operations are starting,” he added.

    On June 28, an Air India flight with 68 passengers on board, made a successful night landing at Port Blair airport, marking a significant milestone for air connectivity to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. INS Utkrosh where the flight landed shares the premises with Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair.

    “We are already getting buyers for the Andaman package. People want to make the most of the August-December season. To accommodate the increasing demand we have scheduled multiple tout packages on the following dates: August 14, August 24, September 7 and 14, October 9 and 31, November 9, 16, 23 and 30 and December 5,” the official said. The package includes three destinations: Port Blair, Havelock and Neil Island.

    Port Blair, the capital, is known for its historical significance and vibrant culture, with attractions like the Cellular Jail. Havelock Island is famous for its stunning beaches, particularly Radhanagar, often rated as one of the best beaches in Asia. Neil Island offers a more laid-back vibe, with beautiful coral reefs and clear blue waters perfect for snorkeling and diving.

    IRCTC is also offering customized options, allowing travelers to tailor their itineraries to match their interests and preferences. “Whether seeking adventure, relaxation, or a mix of both, IRCTC ensures a personalized and memorable travel experience in the enchanting Andaman Islands,” the official said.
