• KMDA gets 18.3 cr for EM Bypass bridge

  • Kolkata: The state govt has approved Rs 18.3 crore for the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) to complete constructing a 45-meter long bridge over the intercepting canal near Tagore Park on EM Bypass.

    The bridge will widen the existing culvert on the Science City-bound flank of the Bypass by another 24 meters to accommodate more vehicle space.Work is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

    KMDA officials said, “It will become a 34-meter wide stretch as 10 meters of the stretch will be curved out for service lanes."

    KMDA has also been working on plans to convert abandoned culverts on EM Bypass into pedestrian underpasses.
