KOLKATA: Following a proposal from New Town Kolkata development authority (NKDA), the state disaster management and civil defence department have agreed to set up a unit office of the state disaster response force (SDRF) at the NKDA utility building near Akhansha More in New Town Action Area II.
Officials said that the SDRF unit office will be set up in around 1,200 sq ft of space inside the utility building with necessary officers and manpower.
The department has also requested NKDA for quick and necessary arrangement of a suitable space for them to set up a permanent SDRF unit and training academy for disaster management in New Town. "We will work out on this matter to identify a location at the earliest," said a NKDA official.
