  • Kolkata: A promoter, Jishu Jain, who was earlier accused of being a tough in Behala, has approached the Parnasree PS and claimed that a club was demanding Rs 50,000 from him.

DC (Behala) Rahul De confirmed that a case had been registered. The members of the club, however, said they had merely made a “request for the club’s improvement”.

According to a source, members of the club visited Jain on Monday and demanded Rs 50,000 from him. They also allegedly said promoters must pay to work in the area. Jain claimed he had offered Rs 25,000 but his project at a site had been halted, and that his workers had been driven away.

The club secretary said, “Everyone is aware that Jain had cases filed against him previously. As the club secretary, I called him and asked for a donation to develop the club. No extortion threat was made.”
