WB CM Mamata Banerjee may go to Ambani wedding reception

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will attend Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant’s wedding reception with Radhika Merchant in Mumbai on July 12, traveling from July 11-13. Meetings with Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar, and Uddhav Thackeray are planned to counter BJP’s 'anti-people policies' during the budget session (July 22-Aug 12) KOLKATA: Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit Mumbai on July 12 to attend the wedding reception of industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani, Nabanna sources said. Sources said she could travel to the city on July 11 and return on July 13.
Banerjee will be meeting SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and may also call on NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray to discuss the role of the opposition and how to counter BJP’s “anti-people policies” during the budget session of Parliament, scheduled from July 22 to Aug 12.
It is not clear whether Congress brass will be in Mumbai at the time. PM Narendra Modi, however, is likely to be in the city.
Banerjee is looking to forge a united opposition to protest against BNS, BNSS and BSA, which she has said are going to snatch away the rights of people. Sources said the CM had instructed Trinamool MPs to be vocal against any anti-people measures of BJP govt.
It is unclear whether she will meet Congress seniors ahead of budget session, but sources have not ruled out the possibility of Banerjee visiting Delhi a day earlier to call on Sonia Gandhi. TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has already held meetings with a number of opposition netas.
