HOWRAH: Known as the logistics queen in Bihar, Asha Devi (49) led the Samastipur unit of Subodh Singh's gang. The Howrah City Police, with help from Bihar STF, have finally arrested Asha, along with four others in Begusarai.
"If Subodh was the brain, Asha was the limbs of the gang," a cop said.
Known as Chachi, Asha had contacts in every state. "If a bike was required for a crime, or a flat had to be booked, or a hideout was needed - Chachi was the person to fall back on.
She was never at the scene of crime, a reason why Bihar cops were unaware of her activities," said Howrah CP Praveen Kumar Tripathi.
Asha used to meet Subodh in jail in Bihar and plan robberies and contract killings. She got information, conducted reconnaissance, decided timings, routes, execution, escape routes, and where the stolen gold would be melted in Bihar or UP.
The others arrested include Manish Mahato, Rabindra Sahani, Vikas Kumar Jha and Alok Kumar Pathak.
