  • Kolkata: The Election Commission on Thursday rejected Bengal BJP’s demand for repolls in nearly 100 booths, including 89 in Maniktala, where assembly bypolls were held on Wednesday. “The allegations were made only in front of the media. Neither (Kalyan) Chaubey nor his representatives came to the commission’s office on Thursday. Some of the booths they spoke about were non-existent,” said TMC’s former RS MP Kunal Ghosh.

Bengal BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said, “The way the bypoll was conducted by the Trinamool showed that the party has no connection with the people at the grassroots level. It is the same from Raiganj to Maniktala. People were intimidated and were forced to stay indoors.” tnn
