  • Kolkata: An 85-year-old man, suffering from schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease, reportedly fell from the ninth floor of a gated complex located near Behala Bakultala, about a kilometre from Behala Chowrasta, around 8 am on Thursday. Sarsuna cops have registered a case of unnatural death but ruled out any foul play so far.

“Sarodindu Chakraborty (85) fell from the ninth floor of tower 9 inside Diamond City West.A probe is on,” said DC (Behala) Rahul De.

Cops said the elderly man was staying alone and looked after by a caregiver. His daughter stays next door. “His daughter had left the house at night and was due to return by breakfast. The caregiver was in washroom when Chakraborty reached the balcony,” said an officer.

“It is not clear if he had tried to lean out of the balcony and fell by accident,” said an officer at Lalbazar.
