According to Barrackpore police, accused Prasen Das alias Laltu, a resident of Belgharia, was arrested on Thursday morning and the police are interrogating him.

In the video, a man, believed to be Das, is seen torturing a naked teenage boy on suspicion of being a thief.

“He was arrested today morning. Everyone involved in the incident will be arrested,” said a police officer.

“My son doesn’t stay with us anymore ever since he got married. He is close to Jayant Singh, but we don’t know what he has done,” said Laltu’s father.

Following the surfacing of three videos earlier this week, police have arrested seven persons, including Jayant Singh.

The cases have been registered under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

As per the police, there is a provision wherein if the incident os of the past 2 — committed before the implemenation of new criminal law code (BNS), and registered now, the case will be filed under IPC and not BNS.

The police said Jayant Singh could not be seen in the last two videos, adding that action would be taken if his involvement was found in the incidents during further investigations.

Jayant Singh has at least nine  FIRs registered against him in the Belgharia and Dakshineswar police stations on charges including murder, attempt to murder, and causing grievous hurt. He was arrested several times earlier.
