  • Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra KOLKATA: With INDIA bloc parties winning 10 out of 13 assembly seats in recent by-elections across seven states, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra commented that the BJP and "Agency Raj" are losing strength, while citizens are expressing a sentiment of "Tumse na ho payega" towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"So @AITCofficial wins 4/4 assembly by-polls in Bengal while INDIA wins 10/13 nationally.@BJP4India & its Agency Raj continues its losing streak. People are saying 'Tumse na ho payega @narendramodi'," Moitra wrote on X.

The Trinamool Congress secured all four seats in the West Bengal Assembly bypolls held on Saturday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee noted that her party regained three seats previously held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and maintained one seat that had been with the TMC.

The emphatic win for Trinamool serves as a validation of the course-correction undertaken by the chief minister in recent weeks. She has emphasized the importance of working for the masses and sticking to fundamentals, while the leadership aims to present a credible alternative to the BJP at the national level alongside like-minded parties.

For the BJP, the losses, particularly in Lok Sabha constituencies where they had previously overcome Trinamool resistance, may intensify the internal power struggle within their state unit.

Leader of the opposition in the assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, actively campaigned for the party candidates, while former state unit chief Dilip Ghosh expressed discontent and issued veiled warnings to the party.

Despite the setbacks, the BJP remained the primary opponent to the Trinamool Congress in all four seats, with the Congress and Left parties relegated to third position in Maniktala, Bagdah, and Ranaghat South constituencies.
