Kolkata: A few short but sharp spells of rain in Kolkata on Sunday kept the mercury in check. The Met expects similar spells on Monday after which it might lose intensity. The city started getting rain from afternoon. Till late evening, Alipore Met office recorded 15.8 mm rain. A cyclonic circulation over Bihar triggered the repeated spells, said weathermen.
On Sunday, maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius was 0.8 degrees above normal.The maximum and minimum temperatures may hover around 33 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Monday. tnn
