The museum in Santiniketan has been funded by the Bangladesh govt.

Sources said the sculpture of Bangabandhu is made of fibre and is a replica of the one by artist Shyamal Chowdhury kept at Bangladesh National Museum. The team also handed over some other memorabilia to exhibit.

Atig Ghosh, acting public relations officer of V-B, said: “The delegation inspected the renovation work at Bangladesh Bhavan museum. They are pleased with the progress.”

The team, among whom were three officials of Bangladesh National Museum arrived on Friday. On Saturday, they had a meeting with Mo-ndal, chief coordinator of Bangladesh Bhavan Manabendra Mukhopadhyay, acting registrar Ashok Kumar Mahato and other officials.

PM Narendra Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina jointly inaugurated Bangladesh Bhavan on May 25, 2018. The museum was forced to close during the pandemic. “V-B and Bangladesh govt are hopeful that we will be able to open the museum to the public soon,” said Mukhopadhyay.
