Kolkata: Four mixed waste processing units are set to come up in Kolkata, Salt Lake and two other places in Bengal for recycling domestic and industrial waste into various by-products like refuse-derived fuel (RDF).
At a conclave on plastics and chemicals sectors held by Merchant Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday, Rajesh Kumar, member secretary, West Bengal Pollution Control Board (PCB), said the work to produce RDF from plastic and other industrial waste has already started in some of the state’s 107 landfill sites like Dhapa.Along with Kumar, state environment minister Ghulam Rabbani and PCB chairman Kalyan Rudra were also present.
