Kolkata: A police team was attacked and shot at while attempting to arrest a notorious fraudster, Saddam Lashkar, in the Paytarhat area of Kultali in the South 24 Parganas district during the wee hours of Monday.
The kingpin of the racket managed to elude police dragnet. Two women have been detained in this regard. Palash Chandra Dhali, superintendent of police, Baruipur police district, said the police were executing a raid when the incident happened.No officers were injured in the attack. Lashkar is infamous for duping people by pretending to sell gold idols and then robbing them of their money.TNN
