Kolkata: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, raped and murdered by a 22-year-old youth, living in the same neighbourhood in Howrah’s Amta.
Police said the girl had been missing since Sunday. Following a complaint lodged by her parents, cops began a probe when witnesses said she was last seen with Sushanta Dolui, who lives a few blocks away from the girl’s home and works at a lathe factory.
During interrogation, Dolui confessed.“He said that he had allured the girl to a neighbouring field where he had raped her. He then killed her and buried her in a field 500 meters from her house. On Monday we took him to the scene and recovered the body,” said a police officer.
Sushanta was arrested and the cops filed charges of kidnapping and murder. He was presented at an Uluberia court on Tuesday.
