Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Tuesday sought a report on the health of former food minister Jyoti Priya Mallick, now lodged at Presidency Correctional Home as an accused in the ration scam.
Justice Subhra Ghosh directed the correctional home superintendent to conduct tests and submit a medical report of the accused within two weeks. Justice Ghosh fixed the next hearing on Aug 2.
Mallick’s counsel Milon Mukherjee had submitted that Mallick’s health was deteriorating every day.According to him, Mallick needed immediate dialysis followed by kidney replacement. ED had arrested Mallick after conducting raids at his residence on Oct 26, 2023.
