• Abducted Patuli bizman rescued from Noida, 6 held

  • Kolkata: A Kolkata Police team rescued a businessman — Satyendra Kumar (28) of Briji Pranabananda Road under Patuli police station — from Delhi-NCR on Tuesday. The business man was allegdely abducted by a gang there after he was convinced to visit Noida to set up a café. The police also arrested six persons—all residents of UP—in this regard.

    The accused had allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom from the victim’s family.The businessman’s wife approached the police on July 12 and a case under BNS sections 61(2), 140(2) and 351(3) was registered at Patuli police station in this regard.

    This is the second time that the Patuli Police along with the Anti-Rowdy Squad of the detective department rescued an abducted victim and arrested all the accused within a week.

    “On July 13, we arrested two persons — Samir Khan alias Suhash and Alok Kumar Singh — from the E-148 building, named Subhangini Residency, at Sector 20 in Noida. Based on their questioning, the victim was rescued from the same place a few minutes later,” said additional CP (I), Murlidhar Sharma.

    Based on the statement by the arrested duo, the police team also seized important documents from the spot. On July 15, a little later than midnight, the Kolkata Police team raided other addresses in Noida and nabbed four more people, identified as Sandeep Verma, Gourav Barua, Jatin and Karan Thakur.

    The accused were part of an organized gang, cops said, adding the victim had also identified them. The accused were brought to Kolkata on transit remand.

    They have been remanded in police custody by Alipore court till July 23.
