Kolkata: The NGT Eastern Zonal Bench has directed state chief secretary to file an affidavit by Sep 11, detailing the expedited implementation of the detailed project report for the installation of a sewage treatment plant at Santragachhi Jheel, including a specific timeline, in connection with the petition filed by green activist Subhas Datta.
The NGT bench emphasized that the remedial actions necessary for preserving the ecology of Santragachhi Jheel should not be delayed due to a financial dispute over land license fees between the state govt and the South Eastern Railway.
