Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed state police to submit case diaries for all 26 pending cases against state leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari. Justice Jay Sengupta directed cops to produce the case diaries at the next hearing on August 8, reports Subrata Chattoraj.
Justice Sengupta did not revoke the protective order that the HC had granted Adhikari in 2022.
The interim order by Justice Rajasekhar Mantha in 2022 came in response to a petition by Adhikari, who claimed that police were intentionally lodging FIRs against him. The order required cops to seek the court’s permission before filing any FIRs against the BJP neta. The state challenged this order in the Supreme Court, which referred the petition back to the HC for adjudication.
