Kolkata: Police on Friday finally arrested Jamaluddin Sardar of Sonarpur from an area near Kolkata Leather Complex after a three-day hunt. He will be produced before the court on Saturday.
A complaint was filed against him at Sonarpur PS on July 7. It was reported that a woman was chained and beaten in a kangaroo court organised by Jamal. Jamal’s two associates, Majid Khan and Arvind Sardar, were earlier arrested.
Villagers accused him of harassment and extortion through such kangaroo courts in Pratapnagar of Sonarpur.
On Wednesday, a new FIR was filed against him at Sonarpur PS. In it, Rubijan Bibi accused him of harassment and extortion. She claimed that despite paying money, she was chained and beaten. Jamal had demanded Rs 20,000.
