  • Kolkata: You can now apply for police clearance certificate (PCC) and tenant verification online without visiting a police station.

    The West Bengal Police on Friday announced that applications can now be submitted through the website, pcc.wb.gov.in. All district police websites and the Bengal Police website, in particular, will carry links through which one can apply for PCC.The tenant verification website will be up and running in the next two weeks.

    Applying for PCC was cumbersome, admitted senior officers and manual verification, too, will continue. “One had to manually apply for this document that certifies that there are no criminal cases pending against an individual. Earlier, the document was submitted at a particular police station and it was then physically verified. An enquiry was conducted and then it reached the DIB office. It would then go back to the police station which would intimate the police headquarter and the certificate was finally released,” explained an officer.

    “But now, once somebody applies on the portal using Aadhaar number, a large portion of the form will get auto filled. One has to key in some other details, pay Rs 300 fee online and click the apply button. The process will be completed withing 72 hours to a week,” said IG (traffic) Sukesh Kumar Jain , in the presence of senior officers like ADG (HQ) Ajoy Kumar, ADG (CID) R Rajasekaran, ADG (South Bengal) Supratim Sarkar and other senior officers.
