  • Kolkata: Banking services in the state largely remained functional on Friday amid the global IT disruption though there were hiccups in the system in the first few hours of banking.

Shio Shankar Singh, general manager PNB and convenor of State Level Bankers Committee in Bengal, said there was no failure in banking system but there were some disruptions across PSU banks and other banks.“We have not got any complaint,” he added.

A source said services overall remained operational in private sector banks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank. But in some cases, retail functions got affected. The Microsoft-linked systems, where retail approvals and sanctions are made, were hit. An official of SBI said as a whole operations across more than 900 branches in the state remained functional but there were problems in new account opening and YONO app.
