  • Kolkata: Following Suvendu Adhikari’s call to dissolve the minority wing of BJP, the party’s national Minority Morcha president Jamal Siddique on Saturday spoke with party workers in Kolkata and said the minority wing would be further strengthened. Siddique also asked BJP workers to observe the death anniversary of former President APJ Abdul Kalam on July 27.

“The soul of the BJP believes in ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’. PM Modi has tried to implement that in letter and spirit. BJP has not been formed only to secure votes. Its ideals are to serve people. It is based on the antyodaya philosophy (welfare of the people at the bottom of the pyramid) of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. It means we are with people irrespective of whether they vote for us or not,” he said.

Charles Nandi, president of the Bengal unit of the Minority Morcha of BJP, said, “Several BJP workers who lost their lives to post-poll violence were from the minority community.”

Siddique, who might visit Kolkata soon, had said on Friday that Adhikari was “a newcomer and not well conversant with BJP’s philosophy. He has to learn the philosophy of BJP. He must have been swayed by emotion. He does not have the right to close down the minority wing.”
