• Law conference focus on 3 new criminal codes

  • Kolkata: The Terrorist Act (Section 113) incorporated in Bhartiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) has marked a significant shift in the criminal justice system for the security of the country but it deviates from the procedural safeguards established in the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), said Faisal Fasih, assistant professor of law, WBNUJS.

    Fasih conducted a workshop for law students and lawyers at Bhawanipur Gujrati Education Society on Saturday.The students interacted with him about the changes made with the passing of three new criminal codes, BNS, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Samhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam replacing the legislations of erstwhile British era.

    The workshop was hosted by Fox & Mandal, a law firm headquartered in Kolkata, in collaboration with WBNUJS. The second day of the workshop is scheduled to be conducted on July 27.
