• 1 Pakistani, 2 Nepali nationals held after car enters India 'for repair' at Indo-Nepal border in Bengal

  • Representative Image SILIGURI: A Pakistani and two Nepali nationals were arrested by the 41 Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal along the India-Nepal border at Panitanki on Friday. They were later handed over to Kharibari Police and produced before a Siliguri court on Saturday.

    The accused were identified as Saif Ullah (46) of Pakistan's Mardan district, Man Bahadur Thapa (51) and Megh Bahadur Thapa (40).The accused were travelling from Nepal in a vehicle that was intercepted 400m inside Indian territory.

    Darjeeling SP Praveen Prakash said while the three had been produced in court due to security reasons, investigation revealed later that the trio had entered India to get their vehicle repaired.

    "During interrogation, it was revealed that Saif owns a security company in Dubai and hires clients from Nepal. They wanted to repair their car in India. There is no foul play," he said.
