  • Representative Image KOLKATA: A day after assurance of action by group chief Naveen Jindal, Vulcan Green Steel on Saturday placed its CEO (projects) Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman on a flight, on administrative leave. The firm has also appointed an independent third-party to investigate the case.

    "We are deeply concerned about the allegations involving a senior executive in our company.We recognise the gravity of the situation and are committed to address it with utmost seriousness and urgency. To maintain impartiality, we are appointing an independent credible third party to lead the investigation," the company said in a statement.

    Vulcan is a sister company of Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel as per the website of the company. Saraogi was transferred to Oman to take care of Vulcan's operations in that country. Vulcan is setting up a steel plant in Oman.

    Following a query on this issue by BSE and National Stock Exchange, Jindal Steel, the listed entity of the group, has submitted a clarification to the exchanges as well late on Friday night. "In this regard, we wish to inform that Dinesh Kumar Saraogi had resigned from his position as director of the company, effective from the close of business hours of March 28, 2023. Saraogi is no longer associated with the company in any capacity. We would like to emphasize that the company upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards any incidents of this nature as reported in the news article under reference," Jindal Steel stated in the reply to BSE and NSE.
