  • Kolkata: Bidhannagar police probing into the case of molestation and sexual assault of a US-bound 28-year-old public policy professional on a Kolkata-Abu Dhabi flight last week are set to record her statement over a video conference on Monday. The woman is currently in Boston and will move to Washington DC by the end of this month.

“We finished some formalities on Sunday and will reach out to her on Monday to record her statement over a video call and proceed with the next course of investigation,” said Aishwarya Sagar, deputy commissioner (airport division) of Bidhannagar City police.

Cops said on Monday, they called up the parents of the woman, who had lodged the official complaint on her behalf and had gathered evidences like photocopies of the woman’s passport, flight tickets, and boarding passes.

“An officer had called me and asked for the documents which I quickly sent. I have told them to call me whenever they want to speak to my daughter and that I would fix a time while keeping in mind the time difference between the two countries,” said the father of the woman.

Airport police had registered an FIR against Dinesh Saraogi, the CEO of a major industrial house, on Saturday, a day after the woman had written a social media post about the sexual assault by the co-passenger in the business class segment of the Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi.

He was booked under BNS sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment) and 79 (uttering words or making sound or gesture or exhibit any object in any form that insults the modesty of a woman and intrudes upon her privacy).
