• ₹3.6cr approved for Sec VI connectivity

  • Kolkata: The state urban development department on Monday approved a funding of Rs 3.6 crore to the Sector VI (Bantala) industrial township authority under the Development of Municipal Area scheme for setting up new roads and repairing the existing bituminous road to improve the connectivity of the area with the city.

    A new bituminous road has been planned to be constructed beside 10A zone of Kolkata Leather Complex, Bantala, for which around Rs 1.4 crore has been approved.Another new road is planned from SLF gate to ESR site for which Rs 98.5 lakh has been approved. The existing bituminous road from Bastu Bihar to Ashram More crossing at Bhatipota mouza will also be repaired and restored for which Rs 1.2 crore has been approved. The total fund will be disbursed in four phases till the financial year of 2026-27.

    Sector VI Industrial Township Authority was formed in 2015 where Bantala was included to function under the urban development department’s purview like Sector V’s IT hub that functions under the purview of Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority.
