Kolkata: A full-grown mahogany tree uprooted in an Ekbalpore neighbourhood on Monday morning.
A Kolkata Municipal Corporation official said the adjacent land was being dug up for drainage upgrade work and it might have led to the uprooting of the tree.
Though residents of the area claimed that a man was injured when the tree toppled, a KMC official said no such information had reached the civic headquarters.
The uprooted tree was sawed and removed by afternoon. tnn
