  • Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday wanted to know whether any disciplinary proceeding was initiated against Saldiha College principal Shaikh Sirajuddin, who is also a former regional chairperson of the School Service Commission.

Sirajuddin is now under suspension and in jail custody. His wife Jasmine Khatun was allegedly recommended for appointment after expiry of the panel, which was prepared based on 12th RLST result. The case was being heard at Calcutta High Court by Justice Biswajit Basu.

On Dec 1 last year, the HC had directed the district inspector of schools (SE) of Bankura to lodge a FIR in respect of the appointment of Khatun after her appointment was found to be “highly doubtful and prima facie ... illegal.”
