Kolkata: A 45-year-old handcart puller died at 3.10 pm on Wednesday after being hit by a biker while crossing Maharshi Devendra Road in Jorabagan.
On Basanti Highway, four persons were severely injured after a speeding private bus rammed into multiple vehicles at 7.45 am on Wednesday. Cops said the bus, plying between Dankuni and Baburhat, swerved and hit another bus plying on the Malancha-Shyambazar route.The bus in turn hit a car, which then hit a cyclist.
All of the injured, Ismail Paik (28), Ohida Bibi (60) and Arpita Acharya (27), were residents of Minakhan. They had to be admitted at a local hospital. Police have seized the vehicles. Drivers racing against each other would face stricter punishment, police said.
