Kolkata: The VC of WBNUJS moved the division bench of Calcutta High Court, challenging a single bench judgment that directed re-examination of harassment charge by a professor. The bench of Justice Kausik Chanda had directed the local committee of North 24 Parganas to re-examine the complaint lodged by a WBNUJS professor against VC Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti.
The complaint, under Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, was rejected by the committee on March 5. Justice Chanda had found the order “not sustainable” and set it aside. This judgment was challenged before the division bench of Justice Harish Tandon and Justice Shampa Dutt (Paul).
