Yatri Sathi AC cabs from airport to charge ₹70 more

Kolkata: Passengers booking air-conditioned Yatri Sathi cabs at Kolkata airport will have to pay more than the current fares as the airport authorities are set to slap the taxis an extra charge of Rs 70 per trip as parking fees.
App-cab aggregators, such as Uber, Ola and SnapE, already included the parking fee of around Rs 100 in the fare for vehicles hired from the airport.
The airport authorities did not charge Yatri Sathi taxis any parking fee but in a recent meeting with the Bidhannagar Police, it has been decided that parking fees will be imposed on AC Yatri Sathi vehicles. There would be no additional fee for non-AC yellow cabs under Yatri Sathi, the authorities said.
“As per the initial contract, no refusal non-AC cabs were exempted from parking fees at the airport. But now there are many AC cabs, some of which operate under other apps, too. So, there was a need to charge them parking fees. As they operate under govt-backed Yatri Sathi, we have proposed to charge Rs 70 from AC cabs, which is less than that for other AC app cabs,” said an airport official in charge of management of car parking.
There are 1,200-1,300 bookings of Yatri Sathi cabs from the airport every day. “At least 40% are for AC vehicles.” said a senior officer of Bidhannagar City Police.
