Kolkata: BJP staged a demonstration in front of the CESC head office at Victoria House on Friday against “fleecing” of consumers. State leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari threatened that if CESC did not reduce bills by August 15, the party would launch a five-day demonstration in front of the CESC office with Calcutta High Court’s permission.
Adhikari along with other BJP netas marched from the party office at Murlidhar Sen Lane to the CESC office in the rain and demanded that the old bill structure be restored.Some protesters carried lanterns and shouted slogans.
The leader of opposition said party workers would launch a signature campaign. He criticised the state power department for hiking bills and threatened to march to Bidyut Bhavan. tnn
