  • Kolkata: A 20-year-old youth, who threatened to end his life on Facebook Live, was saved, thanks to the timely intervention of Kolkata Police a little after Saturday midnight.

Cops said it was around 11 pm on Friday that a person sent the screen-recording of a Facebook Live, where a youth was seen live-streaming his plan to end his life, on the Kolkata Police’s Facebook page.

“The sender said the youth attempting to end his life was his school friend and was currently pursuing undergraduation. The sender said he had his friend’s old phone number but was not aware of his current address,” said an officer.

Multiple KP teams set to work immediately. They traced the number to Behala but to find the exact address, OCs of Behala, Parnasree and Sarsuna police stations were alerted. The Behala PS team traced the address to Parnasree and officers from all three police stations reached his house. “His mother thanked us for our efforts,” said a cop.
